BT WholeHome Wifi

Hi,

I have a wholehome wifi and been using it for a few months with no problems at all. Just recently though my Mac running High Sierra OS constantly drops its link. It says its connected but nothing comes through. It happens every 5 or 10 minutes and after two or three minutes it re connects itself. No other devices are impacted, so when my mac is down my phone works perfectly and super fast. I have just jumped back to the old virgin wifi broadcast direct from the router (as in by passing the Whole Home) and the dropping stops - at least so far, its only been a few hours. So its not Virgin, and it probably isnt my mac. Any thoughts anyone? I have a macbook pro and that doesnt want to work when my mac is on and vice verca - maybe related.. thanks everyone!

@Jamie_300 Yes, maybe:

In the extremely long forum thread on the dodgy disc firmware, a number of folks noted problems with Apple devices in particular, and had some success in improving Apple connectivity with disabling AP steering in the disc setup.  This is done via a hidden page, so after you log in via the browser to the disc set up, change the URL from index.htm to steering.htm.

The page looks like this:Capture.JPG

You can try different settings to see if it helps with the Mac.   I should add I have not had this issue and have not changed any of these settings.

Re: BT WholeHome Wifi

hi thanks for this. The helpdesk told me to change channels from auto to 1 and something else, and to change a setting regarding compatable devices. This did not work at all. Then the bt chap emailed me and suggested your steering idea below, so i have just tried that. However, i also notice that i can no longer play games such as Min*cra*t 🙂 over the wifi. If we switch back to the old Virgin wifi its fine, but via the whole hub none of the games can be shared. This is crazy. And for two weeks i have had a 20m ethernet cable running through the house to the mac...
