I'm getting the same issue as SueFoster110 posted previously but in my case the issue has been getting worse over the last 2 months in that the issue clears itself then re-occurs a few days later. For instance, had no syncing early this week, then yesterday it was working fine then today it's stopped syncing again. I've not (knowingly) changed anything, updated anything or deleted anything. But this is getting infuriating now. Mail access via mobile devices or web based access is fine and works OK but using Outlook is very hit or miss with no apparent cause. I don't see the point in changing passwords as by tomorrow it will possibly all be working fine again and there is no guarantee a change of passwords will solve the issue. Thoughts?
There have been problems with the BT IMAP/POP servers stopping email clients from accessing the users email account for years. The advice from forum users is to do nothing such as changing passwords or deleting and resetting up accounts as this invariably causes more problems than it solves.
Because Outlook stopped accessing your email and you were still able to access your email via webmail and via an app on your mobile devices it is obviously not a problem with your email account or with your password, hence the advice not to do anything.
It is suspected that the problem lies with the BT servers but this has not been confirmed by BT. The problem usually resolves its self in a day or two so again I would suggest that all you can do is wait.
My experience is that doing nothing does work but only temporarily and briefly. The vast majority of attempts by Outlook to synch with my BT Yahoo email account fail (server not responding) and I waste an enormous amount of time waiting about 3 minutes each time to get nothing but the error message. Then suddenly it works only to be followed by about a dozen failed attempts.
Similarly gmail on my phone fails to pick up my BT Yahoo messages for what seems like hours.
This has been going on for over a year and I feel it is about time BT got it sorted.
I've had the same problem for the last 24hrs - but only with outgoing emails. I haven't changed anything, but I started getting the error "0x800CCCOF - connection interupted" and email remain stuck in my outbox. BT support have advised to "wait till tomorrow and maybe it will go away" which does not inspire much confidence...
