BT Yahoo transfer to BT Mail - not happened lost email unable to login to Yahoo

Go to solution

Hi, I’ve received email notifying I’m moving from bt yahoo to bt mail which I thought I already had been. I use 2 btinternet.com addresses and one is still working the other isn’t. When I log in through bt.com website it takes me to bt yahoo and only the working address shows in inbox. However if I hit the home button it says it’s not secure and won’t access. I’m using iPad and Apple phone. I’ve checked settings and on working email I’d akready selected mail.btinternet for both primary and outgoing server so it’s ok. The other one has sent server as mail.btinternet but primary is showing as yahoo but when I try to change this it won’t allow me to login as states yahoo unsupported then sends me to my bt login which then goes as mentioned above to the inbox only for my other address. I deleted the yahoo account from my phone settings and tried to add back in as new address via “other” but despite using my bt password which I know is correct, it won’t let me add the account back in as a mail.internet account as doesn’t recognise it. Have not deleted on my iPad settings yet as want to see the emails I have and don’t wan5 to lose them! I think I have to access my account and change settings for primary server but as no route allows me to login to that part of my account I’m stuck! Does this mean the transfer hasn’t yet taken effect?

Oh and my iPad wis asking to renter password for the non working yahoo email which is taking me in same circles. Your help is much appreciated in advance.

While BT are migrating BTYahoo email accounts onto the new BTMail system, are you sure the email you have received is genuine?

If your email accounts are in the process of being migrated, one of your email accounts may have been moved onto the new BTMail email system.

While your email accounts are on different email systems they will not show up in the inbox drop down box on webmail and obviously you won't be able to switch between them.

When all of the accounts have moved on to the same email system you will be able to use the dropdown box.

See link about the move.

https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/We-re-updating-BT-Email/td-p/2005956

The email addresses are being migrated on an email address basis rather than on a customer's account basis. ie not all your email and sub-accounts will be moved at the same time. You can not ask for your email accounts to be moved, it will just happen when it happens.

Mean time log on via the BT Email log on page.

As regards using your email app see this link and sub links about using or rather not using the Yahoo servers

Now I’m worried it’s fake email as normally I’m very cautious. I’ll go and change my bt password

Ok, I’ve changed my BT password but still unable to access my yahoo account. I don’t think the emails were fake but regardless, my BT account when accessing “email” only shows my working btinternet email inbox. As it’s still appearing as bt yahoo mail, the home option icon comes up with “This connection is not Private......” so I cannot change my email password or access my bt yahoo account. I’m confused as to how to resolve this ......should I be calling BT?

It it a Yahoo email account or a BTYahoo email account?

Did you try accessing both of your email accounts using the direct BT email link?

It’s an @btinternet.com email. Sorry I’m not sure if that makes it yahoo or bt. I thought it was a BTYahoo account as I never log into yahoo only bt but when I select email when logged into bt it goes to bt yahoo?....

Solved: I thought both emails were on same bt ID but turns out not. I reset password on the BTYahoo account then deleted the email account off my iPad and Apple phone and added back in again as “other” and it’s back. It would be easier to have both of the. In same bt iD but at least I have access again. Just to sort out my calendar etc on phone and iPad now!

thanks

If you are using caldav/carddav, you need to change those settings after migration.

The new server settings are as follows:

cal.btinternet.com
card.btinternet.com
