BT power line disconnecting

I have BT power line plugs to go from my BT hub to downstairs where I have a NAS drive and a SmartThings hub on.

I'm finding that the BT power line must keep dropping as my SmartThings hub keeps going offline/online. If I keep my SmartThings have been direct plugged into the BT hub it's fine.

Is there a way to get any firmware updates for the BT power line? or know what version it's on?

Any other troubleshooting I can do? I got the BT power line for best compatibility, thought this would be best.

Which powerline adapters do you have?

You can check the firmware versin by connecting to the device, and going to http://mybtdevice.home

I'll have a look at model. They have 2 Ethernet ports on top and pass through if helps at moment.

So as long as physically connected some where on the network you can connect using the above address? Or do you have to plug direct into it one at a time and disconnect the others?

Once connected can you then download and update firmware? Is there a page to show firmware I can visit?

Unless you know the IP address of the remote mini connector, you have to connect to it directly.

I am only familiar with the BT Hotspot 600 devices, and the old Comtrend units, which I use. They have an IP address on the network, which I have actually changed, to avoid an IP sharing issue.

I do not know if there are any firmware changes to the mini connectors, but you should be able to view the current firmware version, and then perhaps ask one of the BT Devices experts that post on this forum.

So when you say connect direct. You mean plug in a Ethernet cable from a laptop say and then use http://mybtdevice.home to connect to it?

If you do know the IP of it how do you connect from anywhere on the network then? Just type the IP address?

Correct in both cases.

I find it an advantage to re-configure powerline type devices, so they each have a static IP address, outside of the DHCP range of the router. That makes it easier to access them. I have a number of the older Comtrend PLAs for Ethernet connections, and each has its own IP address and can be monitored from my main PC, so I can see the actual connection speed.
