BT's DNS servers still don't support ipv6

I've had IPv6 for a couple of years now with BT Infinity but still have to use third party DNS servers because BT's own DNS servers don't seem to support IPv6.

I use a netgear router and when the DNS servers are set to automatic I only get 9/10 on the ipv6 test site. It fails on the DNS servers.  I had this problem too when I used a dlink router. Basically it says that my ISP's DNS servers don't support ipv6.

The only way I can get a fully IPv6 connection with bt infinity is to use opendns.

Are BT really this slow in getting ipv6 fully operational or is there something I have to do to get BT to give me IPv6 DNS servers?

Re: BT's DNS servers still don't support ipv6

Why do you want to use BT DNS servers, third party servers are preferable. One of the main advantages of using a third party router is the ability to use third party DNS servers.

Re: BT's DNS servers still don't support ipv6

There are times when I need to switch on parental controls.

I have to use BT's DNS servers for that.

If i'm having to turn them on regularly it's easier just to leave BT's DNS servers on rather than constantly going into my routers settings and changing DNS.

But not being fully ipv6 compatible prevents me from doing this as I want full ipv6 compatibility.

Basically BT are preventing me from using their parental controls because they can't be bothered making their DNS servers ipv6 compatible.

Re: BT's DNS servers still don't support ipv6

I think there's an issue with Netgear routers regarding IPv6 anyway as Netgear do not fully support BT's implementation of it.

Not say that this is anything to do with your issue though.

Re: BT's DNS servers still don't support ipv6

What do you mean Netgear don't support BTs implementation of it?

I'm passing the ipv6 test, can access ipv6 websites and my xbox shows I have ipv6

Is there something else not working that i'm not aware of?

Not strictly true, it's just some earlier netgears won't be update (firmware wise) for full IPv6 implementation, there's a list on their website.

Is there a link to this list?

Thing is I appear to get full ipv6 if I use a different DNS.

On the ipv6 test site I get 9/10 when using BTs DNS

and 10/10 when using openDNS.

I get the same results on a dlink router too.

On both routers its BT's own DNS servers that prevent the test getting 10/10.

Now I can only assume that BT are favouring their own so called routers when it comes to giving out IPv6 DNS addresses

EDIT: Is this the list?

https://kb.netgear.com/19308/IPv6-compatibility-on-NETGEAR-routers

If it is then my router is on it

Re: BT's DNS servers still don't support ipv6

Using a HH6 in the Cheltenham area only gives 9/10 so the OPs subject is correct here.

Thanks for confirming there is a problem.

So BTs DNS servers are not ipv6 compatible and it's nothig to do with my Netgear as has been implied.
