BT says I'm spamming ..

Firstly let me point out that I do IT Support as a job, I'm NOT a tech newbie.

My O/S is Win XP Pro SP3 fully patched up via the Windows Updates site. I run IE8 and Firefox (3.6.17) and I use Norton Internet Security 2011, completely updated.

For the past few weeks' I've had a problem with not being able to connect Outlook to the mail.btinternet.com servers to send mail but as I was workign it was not a major problem. This past Thursday I find I cannot even Receive on my primary address. I use the chat feature during the working day and a techie "Daniel" advises me that I'm blocked because I'm spamming.

I reply with all of the above, plus I've done a SAFE MODE full scan and used MALWARE BYTES as a secondary scanner (two products have a better "hit chance").  Daniel agrees with me and releases the account.

Today I find myself again blocked and from the look of things my webmail (which I can access) is full of mail rejection messages.

I've just run a full SAFE scan - again nothing, neither does MWBytes pickup anything. I've downloaded the AVG "linux USB bootstick scanner" - run it twice but it only hits some tracking cookies.

I've even gotten the sysinternals.com RootKitRevealer - which finds nothing bar the usual stuff in the CONTENT.IE5 folder and the two HKLM\Security stubs which are documented on teh web as being normal.

I'm stumped, all my efforts show my machine is clean, yet BT are apparently insisting (given the 2nd denial of port access to my mailbox) that I'm spamming.

Here is one set of the headers that a RETURNED DELIVERY FAILURE sent back to me containing "my" (allegedly) outbound. Needless to say the outbound first IP address is NOT mine.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

Mike

Hi. Welcome to the forums.

The "header" details you've shown above are not typical email header structure.

However if the header shows your "from" email address, then the systems in place are completely wrong with regard blocking email addresses (as you're probably aware).

However sometimes a user has problems sending/receiving via an email address - but this is usually a fleeting problem lasting maybe a few days at most before returning to normal.

If you've not been able to send via smtp for a while, what error message are you receiving ?, and are you able to send via webmail access ?

The header above clearly shows a Jakarta IP address, but that's not really the full header.

Can you give any details as to why Daniel would say that you are spamming ? Do you actually send many emails, and if so is it for a business purpose ?
