Sos, I meant email address not Outlook account.
I will terminate this nonsense on my setup asap.
Can you confirm what you've got setup in Outlook? Have you got two accounts for the same email address - one for pop3 and one for imap?
Thanks, that's understood re mail clients, but errors experienced on POP3 protocol when my emails don't push through and I can't send or receive in Outlook are reported to BT as they occur, especially when I had no server connection for upto 3 weeks on one occasion. This was my concern that BT wouldn't follow up when these breaks in service occur.
When advised that POP3 was being phased out owing to it being old technology by a BT Adviser you would hope they comprehend what they are saying and give their best advice. Seemingly not on this issue.
Yes, two email addresses in Outlook 2010 running. One using POP3 protocol and one IMAP protocol.
The email address using IMAP is only different in address details by (1) being added at the end of the address.

But that means they are two different email addresses, and therefore should not interfere with each other and should not cause an issue.
No, Outlook appends (1) if you create the same address twice, a bit like explorer does with duplicate files. It isn't appended to the actual email address just the account name.

I was under the impression that you had the same email address set up on Outlook as both an IMAP account and a POP3 account.
As you have now clarified that that is not the case and that you have in fact two different email addresses set up in Outlook, what Andy has said about the email addresses having them set up one on POP3 and one on IMAP is correct and will not cause a problem.
EDIT: Thanks licquorice for causing even more confusion 😁
RedRuby27
Is the (1) at then end of the email prefix ie joe.blocks(1)@btetec
or is it after the full email address?
No confusion 😀
Same email address
just as you have demonstrated in your Outlook image.
eg. josephinebloggs@btinternet.com(1)
