BT whole discs hardware and info on smart hubs

Hi all

I am looking into getting a mesh system and would like some help on the white  disc versions. 

Q1, can you separate the Wi-fi frequencies as I have some devices that only work on 2.4ghz

Q2. I have a open reach modem and hub 4 and it seems it can no longer handle all my devices as it seems sluggish. Would it be better to use the bt smart hub 2 with the white discs. I know you can not split the frequencies with this hub so I don’t know how that would work if you can with the discs. 

Q3.  Are the smart hubs 2 better at handling more devices as the hub 4 seems to be struggling now. 

Q4. I have 1 x Hub 4, 2x smart hub and 1 x smart hub 2.  Could these be setup to extend the Wi-fi instead of buying the discs.

Q5. Would it be better to get a new router altogether like an ASUS and plug it into the open reach modem, or get a tp link mesh system instead and take the hub out. 

I just don’t know what to do since BT have gimped all there hardware like not been able to disable the Wi-fi and use it as a modem only in the smart hub or separate the Wi-fi frequencies.  You can still do that with the hub 4 but it seems to be struggling to handle all my gear and home automation.

any help would be great on what best to do as I am now at the point I need to sort this out 

I have herd BT do the smart hub 2 in business form which does let you separate wi-fi frequencies  is this true ? And also can you switch it to modem only.

You can't seperate frequencies but it should not matter as your 2.4Ghz devices will only see and connect to 2.4Ghz

If you are thinking about changing hubs I would go for the smarthub2 and BLACK discs, these only work with the smarthub2 but do not need a disc connected by Ethernet to the hub as White discs do.

I got a very Good deal when I re-contracted my broadband and have a smarthub2 with 2 Black discs, With Halo 1 and discs you can have up to 4 discs if needed with only the standard subscription.

Thanks.  But I would use Ethernet instead as you Can make longer runs as the discs don’t need to be close to each other to communicate. Also I don’t think the black discs have a dedicated backhaul transmission and use the same as sending meaning slower and poor performance.   

also the smart hub 2 can not separate frequency’s and I have read many people having problems with this and other devices and also will sometimes use the 2.4 frequency instead of the faster 5 frequency even if it’s faster and stronger as there no to intelligent.   A good router will always let you separate the frequency’s.  BT removed this on the smart hub 2  for no good reason.
