Re: BT yahoo mail address changed

Go to solution

I have followed the instructions. Sadly each time I am trying to send an email I have to select the drop down box to change it from the xxxxyahoo to the orignal btinternet address. There is definitely a glitch.

Is this in webmail or the Yahoo app?

If webmail, try the alternative method in message 70

App shows the new unknown email as primary, but again new unknown email is default in webmail.

Hate BT issues as you just know pointless calling them!

BT saying they haven't heard of this is either disingenuous or inefficient. I had 2 online chats with them on 30Mar18. Other users in this thread have also been in contact with them. I suspect that all they are doing is saying there is no issue with the BT side and as its only the Yahoo App that has the issue then it's not being flagged as a BT known issue on their error reporting system. Given that BT created the working relationship with Yahoo in the first place and have relued on Yahoo to provide a mobile App then BT should show some responsibility here. Have I missed it or is there no response from Yahoo at all in this thread. When's a relationship not a relationship? When it's between BT and Yahoo, it would seem.

There is a complete disconnect between BTCare on twitter, the phone helpdesk, online chat and these forums.

I find it shocking that they NEVER seem to share information, work against each other and it seems have a totally different management structure, all vying for their own team ONLY, and not working together.

What is for sure this time, is that they can't say "Well, webmail is working so it's all fine" - it's not for some users. The Yahoo app is effectively irrelevant in all this.

The fact that many people are reporting this fault in these forums is a clear case that webmail access for some BTYahoo users has been messed up.

I would ask whether Yahoo ask/tell BT when they are to update their server/email systems. I expect not, since no-one was aware of any changes until Yahoo were questioned and said they would roll back changes. As I said very early in this thread, the roll back is unlikely to work. There are some things that can't be put back, unless they checked every single user setting/config and stored that before changes were made. It appears that the Yahoo mail team are as bad as the BTmail team.

This is where Simon-D (mail expert) should be posting in these forums and explaining what happened, why it happened, what tests were done prior to the changes etc. He even said a couple of months back that anti-spam measures were altered and much better - it's not.

The mail system is not fit for purpose.

Hi All, Thank you to those who sent me over their details and a screen shot. I have sent these to the team investigating this issue.

As I am not in the office tomorrow if we need any further details NeilO will let you know tomorrow.

Cheers
John

The support person said that he would escalate this issue to his manager and the 'Level 2' support team and that they would contact me later today. I'm not so bothered about being contacted, it would be great if we were all informed that Yahoo are working on fixing it.

Following on from the above -

Earlier this evening I received a follow-up call from a member of the 'Level 2' team informing me that the Yahoo engineers were now working on the problem and due to its complexity they expected to have the issue resolved for all impacted e-mail addresses on Monday.  Plus, I would get another call on Monday to confirm this, or be provided with an update regarding progress towards a solution.

I have found a difference between how the drop down 'From' box operates within the Yahoo Mail App on IoS (iPhone) and Android phones.  On the iPhone the drop down selection just needs to be done once and is remembered for each subsequent e-mail created and sent. However, on Android the address selected from the drop down menu is not remembered and has to be selected each time a new e-mail is created.

The simple answer is not to use the Yahoo mail app, use any of the many that are available using the settings given here. If, in the unlikely event the email migration to BTMail ever resumes, the Yahoo mail app won't work anyway.

If the problem is with webmail see message 19 or 70, if with the Yahoo app on a mobile device see message 98 above.
