I have a new BT4600 which I connected this morning to my (non-BT) landline. The phone appears to work, however, it emits a piercing double beep from the base unit every minute... Have I got a faulty phone? The phone was bought yesterday and had been returned previously by another customer - the box had been opened and the equipment wasn't packed in neatly with cords tied by cable tidies and cellophane covering screen, etc. So, is there a fault with this phone or is there a way of stopping the constant noise?

Probably a message stored on the answerphone. Try turning the answerphone off.
I've switched it off. It makes no difference.
See page 58 of the manual. https://www.argos-support.co.uk/instruction-manual/5653270-bt-4600-cordless-telephone-with-answer-ma...

Then I have no idea, try ringing the helpline number in the manual, they may be able to help, or confirm whether its faulty.
This is what I mean about the answerphone message alert.
Problem still not solved.
The replacement BT4600 phone (brand new this time) has exactly the same fault. I am unable to get through to the BT helpline so cannot progress this matter at the moment.
Either:
1) The BT4600 only works correctly with a BT landline
or
2) Two sets of BT4600 phones have the identical fault, so a bad batch of chips perhaps?
It only appears to manifest itself when an answerphone message is left then read and deleted. Within a short while the phone emits two beeps at one minute intervals and nothing will induce it to shut up. The noise is distinct from the single beep at 15 second intervals when an answerphone message is waiting to be read.
And this phone is a Which? Best Buy...
Who provides your phone service as it has to be a problem with their equipment not releasing the line when the caller clears the call?
Zen. They aren't answering my calls today either.

I think they have their own equipment installed in the BT Exchange, so its probably a fault on the port you are connected to.
Its unlikely that two phones are faulty, so it has to be an exchange equipment fault.

There is nothing this forum can do, as its not a BT Retail line.
