BT6510 Digital Single Cordless Phone With Answering Machine stop base ringing

Hi 

I have a BT6510 Digital Single Cordless Phone With Answering Machine. 

I'm trying to turn the base volume off for incoming calls or at least down as it is very loud.

I've tried  turning the external volume down in the phones settings and pressing the volume down button.

How can I set the ringtone for the base also as I only seem to be able to change the phones tone?
