BT8500 Contact List

Go to solution

I have two contacts both with the same 6 digit number but different area codes. One is in my contact list and his area code is the same as mine. I tried dialing the second one but it picked up the one in my contact list instead and if I try and put the second one in the contact list it says it is a duplicate number. Is this to do with it ignoring the area code when it's the same as mine? Is there a setting which can force the area code to be appended?

I think that you can edit the number that hasn't got the area code and then it will work.  Click on the number in your contacts, click Edit, scroll to where it is and alter/add the area code.  Then Save.

This should work.

That number does have an area code - should I remove it?

I'm probably misunderstanding.  If the two numbers have different area codes I would expect it to dial the code of the one you wanted.  Do you go to that person in the address book and then click dial?

No - didn't put the second number in as it said there was a conflict - tried dialing it from the keypad and it dialed the one in the contact list even though both have different area codes

Two things to try. Enter the new contact with a deliberately incorrect digit then go back and correct it; alternatively delete the existing contact then enter both as new contacts. If neither of those does the trick call the helpline 0800 145 6789.
