Re: BTID redirects straight to email

Go to solution

Hello @Montin99,

This problem did recur for me too. But I found a way to overcome it. Essentially my login ID used an '@btinternet.com' email address – which was causing the problem. So, first, I went straight to : https://www.bt.com and used the 'My BT' link at the top of the page. Amazingly, this got me into the MyBT account. Next, I clicked the 'My details' link within MyBT, and changed my BT ID Username to another of my email addresses, that was NOT ending '@btinternet.com' . Perhaps, for you, this could be an email address that ends: Google.com, or Live.com, or @icloud.com. I also changed my Password. This worked for me, but the key was to use the https://www.bt.com to get to the MyBT link in the first instance. Hope this will work for you too..?

Hello @Montin99,

This problem did recur for me too. But I found a way to overcome it. Essentially my login ID used an '@btinternet.com' email address – which was causing the problem.

The issue seemed to focus upon using my '@btinternet.com' email address as my BT ID - I needed to change my BT ID.

Your '@btinternet.com' email won't be lost, but changing your password will mean you need to reset it in all mail programmes. Hope this will work for you..?

Re: BTID redirects straight to email

Problem is I can't change any details other than forgot password. As I'm thrown straight into email rather than my BT information. Probably is the fact I have @btinternet.com in my ID, but simple can't get to the point where I could change it. Very frustrating.

Also worth noting that trying to go to BT from the email page takes me to a BT login page than simple loops on itself when I try to log in (and I've try different browsers). I get the feeling the issue is BT end of things. And trying to get in contact with BT is ironically rather difficult.

Hi @Montin99 welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see you're having issues accessing MyBT. May I ask what web address are you using? Can you make sure it's www.bt.com/mybt

Thanks

Neil

Yep, I'm using that web page. It signs me in a flashes the account page (or whatever) before moving to the email page before a second has passed. I get the same thing using a different computer so it must be something happening BT end.

Hi @Montin99,

This does sound like something that we can help you with.

By any chance, do you have more than one BTID for the same BT account number?

Let me know as I believe I can fix this.

Thanks

DanielS

Re: BTID redirects straight to email

Sorry for the delay in replying. I probably do have more than one BTID for my account though I generally only use BT for my broadband. Email I run through either hotmail, gmail or Sky, so I honestly don't remember what ID's I have setup with BT. And as I can't get logged in, I can not check. It still dumps me straight to mail.

Hence I very much need someone BT end to fix this (DanielS, I hope you can help)!
