Re: Update now available

Go to solution

@Hardeep the video stream you see via Sky is a fixed quality. The version via Fire TV (in the TV app) is ABR so will adjust based on wifi signal strength and broadband speed. On Samsung TV, there are 2 apps - one for BT Sport, and one for BT TV.  The BT Sport app supports BT Sport Ultimate so is capable of showing BT Sport channels at higher quality (up to 4K HDR) than the TV app (HD).

Re: Update now available

Thanks for the info @DarrenDev

I’m a BT Ultrafast (I think the name has changed?) customer with 330Mb connection and both the Fire TV and Samsung use wired connections so I’m pretty sure that it’s not down to broadband speed!!😀

I should clarify that the “quality” issue is only noticeable with streamed sport - on BT Sport and Amazon Prime’s own sport coverage. Other streaming services - Disney+, Prime Video non sport content and Netflix look great. Sport doesn’t look quite right colourwise - a bit artificial - and the motion isn’t as smooth as on Sky’s platform.

I suspect that if I played with the TV’s motion settings I could improve things but part of it may simply be down to fact that I’m in the fortunate position to be able to make the comparison - if I didn’t have Sky I may never have noticed?

Currently I only have the base BT TV package reduced to £6 with sport included and free BT TV App - so a pretty good deal. I took BT Sport on Sky through Sky’s rolling monthly offer to see if there was a noticeable difference and for me there there is. I suspect when BT Tv is up for renewal I’ll have a chat to see if BT is willing to do with something with sport on Sky to keep me otherwise I’ll probably cancel BT tv and stick with Sky.

@tugdolan

the user name and password will be ones for your BT account. (Not this forum but the BT account you use when you go online for billing etc.)

Re: BTTV app on amazon firestick suddenly not working

Is this the same for fire 8 tablet. There’s an app for BT TV but won’t let me log in. I have BT broadband and BT mobile and BT sport. Do I need something else to watch BT tv on fire tablet?

thanks

Re: BTTV app on amazon firestick suddenly not working

Hopefully will get resolved. I was in chat with BT yesterday and this wasn’t mentioned. I can watch BT sport in my phone, but fire 8 tablet won’t let me log in to BT TV.   I really hope it gets sorted. Keep me posted.
thanks

Alan

There's no BT Sport app for Amazon tablets @Kenneth67. To use the BT TV app, you need a BT TV subscription - a BT Sport one is not enough.

I don’t mind paying BT TV subscription if it will work. Again this wasn’t mentioned when I was in chat with BT yesterday
