BTYahoo Mail Time Recorded

Go to solution

Just set up BTYahoo mail on a new computer running windows 8

Problem the time showing on e mails is 8 hours out, ie showing sent at 13:00 when actually sent at 21:00

Can't see why, computer time is set correctly

Any ideas?

I suggest you go into your email account information and check the Time Zone is set to UK.

BT Yahoo put this in a place where you are unlikely to find it.

Login to BT Yahoo

Click on My Account

Click on Edit Personal Information
You will be asked to sign in again

Click edit Yahoo Address/ Contact Information

At the bottom of the page you will find Time Zone Information (This defaults to US Pacific Time)

Use the drop down to change to  GMT UK, Spain

SAVE CHANGES !!!

SIMPLE !

Found it & checked what is set.

The current setting is Time Zone:- GMT UK Spain & I am located in the UK.

BUT

Just sent a test e mail to myself & it is timed at 04:44 rather than 12:44

Ideas to solve please!

Well rom the Control panel is says it's in the Uk

Also the time bottom RHSsays it's 14:00 on the 08/08/13

So I think that is all correct, (Unless I'm Dr. Who)

I think we need to be a bit more systematic.

I assume you are using webmail.

What time is displayed for the email in the sent mail folder ?

When you receive the email what time is shown in the INbox.

If you display the header for the email  what time is displayed in the various hops.

If you are using an email client same sort of questions.

Re: BTYahoo Mail Time Recorded

Yes I am using web mail (BTYahoo)

I have done a new trial seding to myself couple of minutes ago, results:-

Sent Box copy time sent 6:53

Received Time Copy 6:53

Show Header data 6:53 on 8th August

Hope this helps you & me

What that shows is that the time is being set before the email leaves your machine. (i.e. it is not changed on route)

Let us find out what time the browser thinks it at.

If you create a new favourite and then right click on it and look at properties what time does it say it was created at ?
