Re: Banded Profile after BT repair

I think apart from some fine tuning to the interleave depth maybe, it's all but done real line training and is merely running the daily DLM now ... and as I suspected it would, it was always going to finish up with interleave on and throughputting around 12M .... not a bad connection.

Re: Banded Profile after BT repair

Go to solution

Over the last weeks it's rebooted itself after 3-4 days.

During the morning it runs at about 12-13 Mbps compared to the 10 Mbps we had before the line was replaced.

Only problem is every evening the Noise Margin plumets (currently 1.2 dB) and with it the speed. It still shows 12-13 Mbps but websites are VERY slow. Next morning seems ok when the NM returns to 4.5-6...

Currently

 ADSL line status
Connection Information
Line state Connected
Connection time 1 days, 11:54:19
Downstream 16,573 Kbps
Upstream 1,133 Kbps

ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI 0/38
Type PPPoA
Modulation G.992.5 Annex A
Latency type Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up) 1.2 dB / 5.5 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 32.7 dB / 14.6 dB
Output power (Down/Up) 23.5 dBm / 1.7 dBm
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Down/Up) 57784 / 0
CRC Errors (Down/Up) 23019 / 0
HEC Errors (Down/Up) 2941529 / 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote) 27107 / 0

and

Download speed achieved during the test was - 3.74 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 14.62 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.93Mbps
Additional Information: Upstream
Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps

The test result has indicated that you should contact your ISP for further assistance.

And i am getting very slow and sometimes incomplete webpages loading.... It's almost like Dial Up again...

Still just as case of waiting/training it out???

I'd be inclined to write in to the moderators and ask them to contact BTw for you to set dslam 9db on the connection.

Rather than target 6, that way it will bitload at night (and day).  😉

Should i contact the same mod as before or just email as i did before? What impact on speed will your proposed changes make? I understand that speed is nothing without stability/consistancy but just want to know what to expect.... Currently... Noise margin (Down/Up) 0.4 dB / 5.6 dB

Re: Banded Profile after BT repair

You may lose 250-300kbps in sync speed approx, depends on the line at the time the test tones are submitted by the dslam .... but it should improve at night. It may still erode from 9db, but down to a level that still bitloads properly. Contact the same moderator .... to keep things tidy, and explain why via this thread. 😉

If you did a reset now in darkness ... you would lose some sync speed, but it would return the connection with an updated noise margin around 5-6db, if you wanted to.

Re: Banded Profile after BT repair

Well it rebooted again this morning and NM is 6.0db as it normally is during the day.

I wasn't able to read your message until i'd already managed to get an message of to a moderator so i'll wait and see what happens.

Just realised my last post did go in after all....

Re: Banded Profile after BT repair

Go to solution

Well 7 days have passed and whatever Craig (Mod) has done seems to have worked well.

Line state Connected
Connection time 7 days, 01:07:56
Downstream 15,266 Kbps
Upstream 1,133 Kbps

ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI 0/38
Type PPPoA
Modulation G.992.5 Annex A
Latency type Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up) 6.1 dB / 6.3 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 32.8 dB / 14.6 dB
Output power (Down/Up) 23.8 dBm / 1.7 dBm
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote) 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Down/Up) 49501 / 0
CRC Errors (Down/Up) 21996 / 0
HEC Errors (Down/Up) 270885 / 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote) 6589 / 0

The speed is still faster than before we had the line replaced. The NM does drop at night but the lowest it gets to is 3.0. The slow downs/frozen connections have stopped. Occassionally a webpage won't load or a download runs VERY slowly but a refresh or restart usually clears that issue.

Many thanks to all who helped from the very beginning.
