Big speed drop

Hi afternoon.
I've had by infinity 1 few years now and I'm on upto 52 mg package. My line always synced at approx 50 meg. My tp link is on master socket and I've seen a 16 approx drop.

Here my current router stats are
Current Rate (Kbps) 6564 34998
Max Rate (Kbps) 6564 34243
SNR Margin (dB) 5.4 5
Line Attenuation (dB) 33.7 22.5
Errors (Pkts) 364 69509

On ADSL checker says VDSL range A clean 51.9, low 37.1
VDSL range B impacted 41.4, low 25

Does this look like a fault somewhere.
Please need advice
Thank you

Re: Big speed drop

Tp link on master socket on metre cable.
Master socket is new last year a BT MK3 split in 2 Half's has VDSL socket on top. I did have a ADSL nation filtered faceplate but that was replaced last year with this version.
I did reboot router last night hoping for high re sync but never.

Re: Big speed drop

Connecting to test socket has improved your attainable speed and also your noise margin suggesting your current speed is low and if you can get noise margin down to normal 6db then speed will move nearer attainable
It does show there is a problem either with your internal wiring or the faceplate or both

Re: Big speed drop

Hi,

Same here.   I started out on Infinity 1 at 50MBPS download and line rate.   Now it has fallen over the last month or so to a download rate of 37MBPS at a line rate of 44Mbps.   Does switching off the router at night affect the rates and if so, why?   I understand that BT can distinguish between a power down and a line break.   Has anybody resolved this problem type?   I am getting that old profile band feeling again that I got when I was on ADSL2!

Re: Big speed drop

the router is designed to run 24/7 and often the firmware updates are overnight so turning off router every night may stop any update - it also saves tiny amount of power and money

Re: Big speed drop

Changed faceplate to my other ADSL nation faceplate went upto max sync 48meg then slowly dropped to 36.
The ADSL nation plate was changed to new BT MK3 plate coz of speed and disconnected errors then got 50meg ish mark from last year now faults again. Router connected to master, no hard wired extension, I did have but wire broke under carpet as router was upstairs so been disconnected off master. Now router downstairs.
Did 17070 just hiss no crackle.
Is there any other tests I can do from BT site to
Does the homehub need be connected before I ring BT for line checks.

Re: Big speed drop

Yes you need hub connected

the constant daily turning off your hub is certainly not helping your connection speed. Do you turn it off overnight or do you only turn it on when you go to use it and then turn off so could be on/off more than once a day?
