I was looking at my Dementia suffering Dad's phone bill at the weekend and I was shocked to see he was charged £17 for a call to a 118 number.
I know there will doubtless warnings before being connected about charges but he will not take in even the most obvious information at times. To avoid this happening again is there any way you can block these numbers from being dialed?
Call barring is one option http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8474/~/all-about-call-barring%3F
Or there is another option.

Can I also recommend you do a forum search for 'dementia' as you may be able to get a refund for him and you might find some helpful information.
Pleased to say that after emailling 118118 they have offered to refund most of the charge from that call, nice one moustachioed men!
Apparently they can also block that number from dad's landline too if I send them proof of his ID and a letter with his medical condition on it.
