Re: Both upload and download speeds have dropped

Supplemental question. What should the ratio be between upload and download speeds be on ADSL2+ under BT? I'm asking as the ratio between upload and download has changed from 1 to 12 to 1 to 6. This would rule out general noise on the line I'd guess. I've seen other posts where the ratio of 1 to 10 has been mentioned so 1 to 6 is anomalous.

Re: Both upload and download speeds have dropped

There's no such thing as a ratio.

For example, I get 2.5meg down sync and 0.8meg upstream sync.

"I have tried the Quiet test and I think that's OK, there's a little static."

There should be NO noise at all

Re: Both upload and download speeds have dropped

But wouldn't noise on the line affect both upload and download equally?

So I should report a fault to BT then?

Re: Both upload and download speeds have dropped

The A in ADSL stands for Asymetric, how is the split determined between upload and download then if it's not the ISP that determines it.

Re: Both upload and download speeds have dropped

yes noise will affect your broadband and it needs to be reported as a voice line fault no mention of broadband in the call
