BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

Hi all,

My broadband speed drastically slows after few minutes. I have to switch off/on the BT hub and got 5 minutes of ok internet speed but it becomes a nightmare again after few minutes (it takes 5-10 minutes to open gmail....)

I changhed the filter, the phone socket to a new one, ect...

Any ideas?

Cheers

Greg

Re: BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

You probbaly need to post the adsl stats from your router and also the results of a BT speed test to get any help.

Re: BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

Where do I find ADSL stats?

This is speed from today:

Time / Download Speed / Updload speed, you can see that download speed decreases with time.

Re: BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com and post the results .

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

have you had an email recently from BT advising your exchnage was being upgraded?

are you connected to the master or the test socket or somewhere else?  do you have other extension sockets in other rooms in your home?

Re: BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

For information, I just moved to new house and I am first time user of BT broadband.

I am going to check the socket but in the meantime, here are the results from the speedtest:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 326

For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-7150 Kbps.
Additional
Information:

Your DSL Connection Rate :6519 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM),
747 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 5751 Kbps

Re: BroadBand speed dramatically slows down after few minutes

if this is a new contract with Bt then you need to complain as your conenction is now on 21cn adsl2+ and with your attenuation your connection should be about 16mb not the 6mb currently
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php

in addition your throughput/download is rubbish and you need to email the mods to get it fixed.  they may hopefully get you on to adsl2+ at the same time  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951
