Re: Broadband Capped?

Go to solution

Hi John46

They dont have a BT master socket just an alumiium

faceplate that was in the house when they moved in.

I will try and get my stepgrandson to redo hub test and get

the rest of the info and a BT Speedtest also.

Thanks.

are there other sockets in other rooms?  is the one you are conencted to the first socket in your home where the BT wires enter from outside?

Yes the metal plate is the main incomer for BT but there are

3 extension sockets routed round the outside of the house

but I dont know who installed them.

Re: Broadband Capped?

it may help your connection if you could check to see if the bellwire is conencted to terminal 3 and if so remove it from master and allextension sockets as it is known to cause noise problems on your line  see here

bellwire removal

Re: Broadband Capped?

Hi ImJolly

I took the metal plate off last year when I was housesitting and the bellwire is connected,

so I did my own fix I bought some doublers and removed the relevant connecting wires

I also repeated this round the house so each box had the bellwires removed, the

speed went from a constant 1.2mb/1.7mb to 3.5mb/4.4mb.

Re: Broadband Capped?

hi once you can maintain 3days + stable connection we can the give you a link to the forum mods who can reset the noise margin which will then improve your connection speed with your attenuation you should be connecting at around 7.9mb

Re: Broadband Capped?

Hi Guys

Sorry for the long delay,my step grandson

was suppose to email the hub readout on Friday

when i spoke to him he said he had to reset the hub again,

I said this is ridiculous as it needs 3 days + to get up to speed.

Anyway long story short his mother is going to get Infinty

installed so I guess all this will be moot.

Thanks for help and quick replies you are true stars.

You can close this thread off, thanks for the help

I may be back!!!
