Hi, I live in a shared accommodation on the top floor, I am looking at getting broadband and TV in my own room, I have asked my landlord for permission as it would require a phone line to be installed and he said that there is a phone line in the first room downstairs which is the bottom floor so I wouldn't need a phone line to be installed,
I'm confused as the router and TV and phone would be in my room which is top floor so how would that work? Am I Getting it wrong or is my landlord?
As far as I know the phone line he is on about isn't even being used, there is also a phone line in my room but it's virgin media
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
Jack

Is there someone in residence in the other flat? Is the line active and does someone pay the line rental to BT?
Thanks for your reply, no one is living in there atm and I'm pretty sure it's not active
Thanks

As you are not the account holder for that line you would not be able to have it shifted to your flat.
You would need to arrange to have a new line fitted in your flat. You would need your landlords permission for this is suspect. Is there any reason why he thinks you can't have your own line installed?
I've just spoke to him and explained everything and he said that's fine I have his permission to install a new line so I'll crack on with it on Monday , thanks for your help
Be aware that you will probably need to enter into a two year contract. You will need to pay cancellation fees should you need to move out of the flat unless you move to another place where you can have the package transferred to.
Sure thanks for your help
