High resistance fault is normally bad connections and water ingress would certainly cause that

Thanks for the confirmation/reply. 

 

Problem is its going to be pot luck whether or not it does it while there here.

 

Is the line anymore likly to show its symptoms if i max out the bandwidth while the engineers here?

if a high resistance fault then it shouldn't matter whether you are using the internet or not just the fact that it is connected and drops connection when making or receiving calls.  so when engineer there if you phoned your home number then router should drop internet connection
