Broadband connection dropping more than usual

Hi,

I've noticed that in the past few days that my broadband connection is dropping and reconnecting more than usual which has caused the line speed to drop (4MB to over 3MB) and the noise margin to increase (6db to 9.4db). I haven't changed my setup in anyway, therefore I was wondering if this could be caused by a faulty adsl filter and/or extension telephone cable?
