Broadband connection dropping when receiving inbound call

Hi,

When I receive an inbound phone call my broadband connection disconnects for a couple of minutes.

I have a dual plug master socket (One socket for telephone and one for broadband). I also have a pretty new HomeHub.

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong ?

Thanks,

Re: Broadband connection dropping when receiving inbound call

Some possible causes from here - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/connectionprobs.htm

adsl drops out when phone call is made or received.

Incorrectly installed filters - check filters are installed correctly see here.
Faulty filters - replace one by one to identify which filter is faulty.
Fault on the line - unlikely but possible if all else has been eliminated.

Re: Broadband connection dropping when receiving inbound call

Thanks,

As I have dual socket, I don't have a ADSL filter that I can swap out, as shown in the diagrams in your links. Therefore do I need to find a way to get a fault on the line checked ?

Re: Broadband connection dropping when receiving inbound call

It could be a faulty face plate but

If you post the stats from your router
For homehub - 192.168.1.254
Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right
Click on More Details and then post the results.

And post the results from http://speedtester.bt.com/

then someone may be able to help.

Re: Broadband connection dropping when receiving inbound call

Did you try the quite line test 17070 option 2? Best done with a wired phone. Although given you noise margin I'd doubt there is much noise.

Can you try a different phone?

The fault will probably be one of Phone, Socket, Hub or line fault.
