Broadband connection drops - All lights still blue Home Hub 2

I have the home hub 2.

 

Whenever I start a big download ie. sound or video file, the broadband connection drops and the only way to get it back is to reset the router.

 

When the connection drops, all 4 lights on the hub are still solid blue.

 

Any ideas???

First off .... try a quiet line test, 17070 option 2

 

To see if there's any bad noise on the line ...

 

You may hear a slight hiss using a dect phone ... but you should not hear any pops or crackling.

 

Have you tried using another broadband filter ?

Thanks for the reply. I have changed the filters many times, sadly no improvement! Just tried a quiet line test and completely silent. Thanks again Joe

Have you had the hub long Joe?

 

Which one do you have?

 

Also ...  can you post the line stats from it for the connection.

It's a home hub 2 and I've had it since August 2009.

 

Can you tell me how to get the stats please!

enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and then go to adsl or use a-z

Well your stats for noise margin are not bad Joe ...   9db is healthy enough.

 

The runtime is only 22 minutes so no real information there I'm afraid.

 

I assume you've checked cable connections and obvious stuff ....

 

Does an incoming phone call drop the connection?

I've been on the phone to the very 'helpful' (not) BT call center and they've had me restarting the hub and unscrewing the phone socket cover ... hence the short connection time.

 

All cables are OK. Incoming calls have no effect on the connection, it's purely when I'm making a large download, such as a video or music file, that the connection drops.

I think I'd drop a message in to the mods Joe ...

 

With a link to this thread ...  and account detail.

 

I can feel a new hub coming on I think,   BT Forum Moderation Team <forum.moderation.team@bt.com>

 

Don't keep resetting the hub anymore, it'll slow the throughput and kill the IP profile.
