Broadband dropouts

Go to solution
For a few months now our BT Homehub5 has been regularly dropping out giving the orange light. This mostly happens at night where it can turn blue for a short period before starting the cycle all over again. I have been working late shifts and when I get in just after midnight it is usually doing this. During the day this very rarely happens. When it is working the speed seems good. I did a quiet line test and all seems fine. I don't normally have a phone plugged in. I have had the cable from the homehub to the tv disconnected for a while so nothing else is physically connected to the hub. I did notice that the hub has had an update in mid July. Is it a coincidence my problems have started around this time? Prior to this it was rare to have any problems.

Re: Broadband dropouts

Have you tried using a different phone cable going into the router, and checked any extension wiring coming out of your main phone socket going to the router? It might also be worth replacing the filter box and doing a factory reset on your router...

Re: Broadband dropouts

Hi @dwcshoot and welcome.

I'm sorry you're having problems with the connection. Have you noticed if anything else happens at the same time like street lights or heating pumps switching on? I think it might be worht checking for REIN issues. Take a look at kitz REIN for details.

Cheers

Re: Broadband dropouts

@DavidM thanks for your response. I can't think of anything that switches on or off at those times or regularity. I have electric heating which occasionally triggers the doorbell to go off but that is onny twice a day!
