Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

There is an increase in speed and noise margin, which would indicate that your extension wiring is affecting the speed and available bandwidth.

An increase in noise margin means that there is potential for a further increase in speed, if left in the test socket.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

The first stats I posted on the first page have a higher noise and speed that the stats from the test socket, does this not imply that the wiring within the house is not the problem?

I have also just done another quiet line test through the test socket it and it is very crackly. It is raining now, the first quiet line test I did it was dry.

Thinking about it now the weather does seem to have a large effect on how the telephone line is and if the broadband stays connected or not.

Another set of stats with the hh moved back.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

I agree, there are some inconsistant results. I would expect a connection of about 4384Kbs, based on your line length, so its probably worth asking the BT Care Team to arrange for a visit from a Broadband Boost Technician, to see if any fault can be identified.

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to arrange this.

They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team

They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

The broadband has dropped twice again today with the broadband light on the hub going out completely. Each time I have had to just get a dial tone on the phone again and it connects back up.

I will get in contact with the care team.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

I will do.

I just can't understand why I need to get get a dial tone on the phone to get the router to connect backup to the exchange when it drops. It seems to be happening much more ferquently now. Every few minutes.

The line to our house does run through trees, I wouldn't be surprised if they have caused a fault along the line letting water in. Whether that could cause the problems.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

A high resistance connection will cause exactly those symptoms. Picking up the phone tends to break down the HR, but only on a temporary basis.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping and ip profile of 0.75Mbps.

I am fairly sure we have pinpointed the problem. This is a part of the line running upto our house.

Quite possible to see it is in a bad way, there are lots of nicks and broken bits in the insulation.

Our phone is now unusable now aswell due to so much noise. Broadband is just about hanging in there but slow and still dropping out.

Who can I call to report this and get sorted as quick as possible?
