Hi,
I've fibre broadband Infinity 1 and for about the last 3 months have noticed that the speed is dropping to almost nothing as the night goes on, although hub stays on. normally I get about 28 Mbps but at night I'm down to less than 1Mbps - switch hub off/on resets it back to 28Mbps.
this is a new hub i received last week (to resolve this problem) after phoning BT - they checked speedtest and said speed from exchange to house was fine (22 Mbps) - but speed from old hub to devices was the blamed culprit.
my connections to hub are wireless (tv, 2 phones and an ipad). hub is about 4 metres from anything and signal goes through one wall.
Any advice? or do i just reset the hub once a day?
Thanks
Frank
please don't reset the hub on daily basis as that will more than likely make matters worse
can you post stats from your hub if hh6 then go to advanced settings then technical log information
try quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 should be quiet and best with corded phone
can you run btspeedtester and when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post results then run test again tonight when speed is low for comparison
Here's the reading when my broadband is running at correct speed:-

I can't test the line as I don't have a landline phone - I only use mobile.
Also - I'm not having a problem with Exchange to house, it's hub to devices that deteriorates as time goes by.
How do you suggest I watch something like Netflix if i can't reboot the hub (which gets the speed back up)?
Can you at least post the speed test reults asked for.
It is also advisable to have a corded phone connected as it provides a "wetting" current on the line which helps prevent corrosion building up on joints. One can be picked up for about £5 from a well known catalog store.
@Darkfung Constantly resetting the router will trigger the DLM into thinking line is unstable resulting in noise margin increasing and speed decreasing. If the resets continue then you will probably end up in a banded profile which at present can take weeks to get out of
but up to you
if you sue an ethernet conenction does your download speed appear to drop like your wirless conenctions
remember Btspeedtester must be done with wired conenction not wireless
Hi
btspeedtester is telling me it can't fetch the results and only confirming speed from exchange to house. I've run it each night for the past several days and each time i get the "can't fetch" message. (running it on laptop wired to hub)
I'll buy a cheap corded phone see if that helps.
I'm stuck for connecting via cable as my hub is downstairs and the slow speed is being reported by netflix on my tv upstairs - but I'll try netflix on a wired laptop tonight next to hub.
just for clarity - no problems at all until about 3 months ago.
... and thanks for all the help thus far 🙂
