Broadband speed gone very slow

Go to solution

Hi

Hoping for some help in getting my broadband speed back to what it was 3 days ago, on running a speed check i am only getting 0.13Mb prior to this was getting around 6Mb.I have carried out a quite line test and there appears to be no noise present, this was from the master socket and extension sockets.

Modem stats:

Connection Status Connected

Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
Path Mode Interleaved

Ds Rate (Kbps) 6464
Us Rate (Kbps) 448
DS Margin (dB) 13
US Margin (dB) 24
DS Line Attenuation (dB) 7
US Line Attenuation (dB) 5

CRC Rx Fast 0
CRC Tx Fast 0
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 5

Showtime times 17
DSL Uptime (s) 0:54:02
Last DSL Uptime (s) 15:22:00

I have spoken to BT service desk and they carried out some checks and did acknowledge a speed problem, and said they would do things there end and i should see the speed go up within 24hrs, but in small, they said should get at least 4Mb, but as of today still 0.13Mb.

Any help much appreciated.

Paul

It sounds like an IP Profile Profile problem the speedtest will show that if it is then you will need to maintain  stable connection with your router 24/7 for the next 3/5 days with no manual restarts  and it should rise automatically

Thanks for the quick reply, have carried out speed test with following results:

1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.

 Download  Speed
 0.07 Mbps

0 Mbps0.25 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.07 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :6.53 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.14 Mbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your Broadband Service Provider.

If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your Broadband Service Provider for assistance.

Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.

Hope this gives some clues.

yes as I thought you have a low IP Profile just follow the advice I posted and it should rise automatically if it has not risen in 3 days then post back your router stats and the speed test and we can advise you further

there is always some one around to help but the stable connection is very important or else the profile will not rise

Re: Broadband speed gone very slow

Yesterday done another quite line test on master test socket and the noise level was really bad, so bad difficult to make a voice call, called to arrange engineer to come out tomorrow afternoon and check line, but now it is totally silent again and broadband speed test gone up to 5.3Mb.Has anybody had this type of intermittent problem its all fine for about 2 days then noise again, concerned that the BT engineer will just say no fault found and bill me for wasting there time.

yes an intermittent noise problem is the worse sort as it can take time to find i suggest you explain to the engineer that the noise is intermittent and it may help him find the problem
