Broadband speed has dropped since signing up for BT sport?

I normally get about 6Mb download speed with a HH3.  Recently I have noticed that it has dropped to about 1.95.  Nothing has changed in terms of computers in the home (apart from signing up for BT sport).  I used the BT test facility and found that the connection from the exchange is capable of delivering 8.13 to the HH but from the HH delivers 1.95 via a wired or wifi connection.  I checked with my neighbour and he has exactly the same thing happening with similar numbers (but on a HH2) and he has signed up for BT Sport too.  It seems odd that my neighbour and I have the same problem.  Has there been a firmware update recently or can it be BT sport related?

Re: Broadband speed has dropped since signing up for BT sport?

Looked at the event log in my router and everything looked OK except for the firewall stuff as follows.  Any suggestions?

Re: Broadband speed has dropped since signing up for BT sport?

Sorry for the delay but I have been away, however the problem is still here.  My best download speed is about 1.85mb although the tests seem to imply that 8mb is possible.   My neighbour is seeing the same speed reduction.  I live in a small village in Dorset and I am about 500 metres form the local exchange.  I have tried replacing the HH3 modem with a new Tplink device and get exactly the same numbers, quiet line test is OK.  Any suggestions welcome.

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

Download speed achieved during the test was - 1.95 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your Broadband Service Provider.

If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your Broadband Service Provider for assistance.

Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.

Re: Broadband speed has dropped since signing up for BT sport?

your profile is only 2mb instesd of 7.15mb so you need to stay connected and if you get 3+ days connection time and still at 2mb then possibly stuck and need mods help - so repost stats and then you will get a link to contact mods.

profile should reset automatically in 3/5 days sometime even sooner

Re: Broadband speed has dropped since signing up for BT sport?

resetting the router will not help and just restats your 3/5 day timeclock.  if your router has been connected to internet for 3+ days can you post the router stats to show connection time.  just connected to power supply for weeks is not the same as connected to the internet as your router can reset.

it is unlikely that this is same as neighbours problem as this it to do with your connection and profile - your neighbour has different line.

if neighbour BT customer then get them to post stats on forum if they want assistance

Re: Broadband speed has dropped since signing up for BT sport?

resetting the router is the worse thing you can do as every restart start the 3/5 day stable connection period again
