There giving you bt sport free for 12 months. They've took the time to write to you about that. They aren't putting you into a new contract.

If they start charging in 12 months they will write to you, plus it will be all over the news. You still won't be under contract because of it.

Can't see any major issue here

But they assume he'll renew to get BT Sport free for the first 12 months...

And if he doesn't renew then the charges will appear on the bill.

This is seriously shady. It is making me rethink my decision to rejoin BT and sign up to sport.

More nonsense I'm not a Netflix customer.

If O2 said they were going to give me free unlimited data for a year and it might not be free after that, and they'd notify me and id be able to cancel it when it wasn't free, then that would be okay!

This will end in tears. Come August 2014 there are potentially thousands of people (probably the most vulnerable people) who will suddenly see sport charges on their bill and have no clue what is going on.

Mumbai will be busy, that's for sure.

Dunno, I've not got SS1 and 2 nor do I want pay* for BT Sport either!:D

(though I may make use of the totally free app - *the one that doesn't need a BTV subscription which does cost £x per month. I'd better not ask about BTV customers that are on PAYG:p)

What does it cost? Isn't the app free for anyone with BT broadband?

Yes the app is free.

Watching BT Sport via BTV is free, but you need a subscription to BTV (a chargeable service) and you need to renew your BB contract to get the discount price of nil per month.

The tariff guide does make a mention of £12 per month for BT Sport (which IIRC is for those whom don't have the discount) - confirmation needed on the latter but ICBA to check.

I see what you mean. I misread your post as an £x charge for the app.

What no extra charge for the app and no contract? Surely BT have slipped up? What happens after the 12 months?
