Calls drop after 29 minutes

I had three instances, where telephone calls suddenly drop after 29 minutes into the conversation. I thought it was just a coincident. Also, there were instances where the other party could not hear my conversation for few seconds. By the way, I am using FTTP. Today, I phoned BT to report the issue. To my surprise, I was told that the 'call-dropping' is a known issue. Apparently, the calls drop either after 15 or 29 minutes. Is it possible get further information on the issue itself and the details of potential fix/workaround? Regards Kanesh

Re: Calls drop after 29 minutes

I assume this is a fibre voice connection, where your phone is connected into the Openreach ONT, and not a separate copper pair for the phone line?

Yes, Fibre voice connection. The support staff mentioned that the issue is on Openreach system.

Was it the FTTP team you were talking to, on 0800 587 4787 ?

It would seem to me like a router misconfiguration which is imposing a timeout. You may not pick up the same router every time.

It can be an issue with CISCO routers if they are handling SIP connections. I have seen this on PBXs some years ago.

I don't think so. I rang 0800800150. Should I report it to FTTP team?

You could try them, as they are more likely to know about any routing issues.

As I said, its most likely a router configuration issue, and you occasionally get routed via that router.

Re: Calls drop after 29 minutes

Issue with the CNET providing FVA, call the FTTP team and they will report it to BTO and should be fixed within a few days.

Re: Calls drop after 29 minutes

Thank you.... being the other person that posted about this earlier I'm glad I'm not the only one.... just waiting for a call back from the FTTP, didn't want to hang on in case they decided to answer after 28 minutes
