I'm about 2km from the cabinet which serves our FTTC broadband. As a result, I get around 15 mps normally. Sometimes 17. I've been as high as 20 in the distant past. A new cabinet has been installed about 500 metres away, but which serves another street. Is it possible to get my line transferred to this one? I am, of course, not the only one affected.
I ask this as I have just see a BBC report as follows:
UK broadband speeds leap ahead, according to Ofcom study
I'm in what my US friend calls a semi-rural environment. A large village, really. But I've spotted 3 cabinets or more serving the place. Ours is in another village entirely. Another council district too!
Short answer is no you can not get it moved.
Openreach will not re-route to just to give better speeds.

A. Unfortunately not. We can’t move a line that’s already connected to a home or business from one cabinet to another.
I'm in a similar position and the Open Reach guy said that's just not how it works. He said they would have to completely re route cables and they just wouldn't do it.
