Can some experienced people help me understand this please.

ive ive had very poor sppeds the last week or 2 and today an engerneer came and said that bt had capped my speed, so ive just ran a spped test now hes sorted that out and heres what i said:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 338 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 100-500 Kbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :3844 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 584 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 14.14:26.72:59.14 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

im getting confused betwen it saying im getting 3844kbs downstream but then its saying that the speed achived in this test was 338kbs?  so which  DL speed am i getting and more importiantly why lol, thanks guys 🙂

Re: Can some experienced people help me understand this please.

the 3844 is the speed at which your hub is connected but it is the IP Profile that controls the max speed of download.  you can read about it here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm

if your hub stays connected 24/7 then your profile will sort itself

Re: Can some experienced people help me understand this please.

Thanks very much for your help so far, looking at this how long would you estimate it will take for my profile speed to catch up for my download speed?

 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :3844 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 584 Kbps(UP-STREAM)

The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 14.14:26.72:59.14 (SBE:NBE:smileytongue:BE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

thanks again
