Can't Switch BT SmartTalk App From Lost Handset To A new Phone and Number

I lost my mobile phone and I Replaced It With A New Handset And A New Mobile Phone Number.
However I Have Tried Several Times To Get Bt To Release My Old Mobile Phone Number Attached To My BT SmartTalk App Which Is Supposed To Get Done Within 24 hours According To Your App Instructions But Each Time I Have Contacted BT I Have To Put Up With Being Passed From One Department To Another On More Than 5 Separate Departments I've Encountered Today Only For Such A Simple Process.
To Replace My Old Number And Allow Me To Activate My New Mobile Number
