Have been trying all day to arrange an engineer visit on my reported fault but every time i try i just get a message saying the was a technical error and it couldn't be confirmed, i've already lost a days work due to my phone and internet being messed up, can't afford to wait till next week to get an engineer out so need to be able to arrange it for friday, anyone got any ideas on how i can actually get it arranged when i can't use the phone to call BT ?

You would not get a visit arranged for Friday this week, unless you are a BT Business customer paying for Prompt or TotalCare.
Its Openreach that actually fix the fault for BT Retail, and most other providers.
