When I try to cast the app to my LG tv, it can see the tv and when I go to connect it starts connecting then stops and shows the message in the picture below.

ive checked the internet and all is good. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, both on my phone and iPad. All other apps cast to the tv fine.

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

Hi @Big_Robbo, I'm sorry about that the VC547 error code can mean there's a problem with accessing the BT Sport channels or playing back a video. This could be caused by a problem with your Wi-Fi internet connection because the internet is down.

Try these steps to fix:

  • Check your internet connection by trying to watch a video on YouTube
  • If you're connecting using Wi-Fi, check you've entered the correct Wi-Fi password, and have logged into the internet. Some public networks have a two-stage log in process
  • If this doesn’t work, log out of the app, restart it, and then log back in again

I'd also recommend deleting and reinstalling the app if the above doesn't work. If this hasn’t fixed your problem, BT customers can click here to chat with us >

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

BT have blocked this from working, there are no other issues here!

Not sure why (actually, its related to money), BT have chosen to prevent the ability to cast to to LG TV via Airplay 2 and to block use of the WebOS browser.

Only options available for casting are Chromecast or Apple TV (hardware).

I'm sure Samsung were disappointed that LG had 2 ways to access BT sport, when they had spend £££££££ on exclusive rights to a TV app.

Invest in a Chromecast £25-30 and you will not lose out on too much the next time a BT genius decides to screw us over again.

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

I’m having the same issue but there are a few ways around it...

You can still use the iPhones Mirroring then open the app. As soon as you play a video it goes full screen.

If you have an Xbox there is an excellent app called AirServer which supports AirPlay, Google Cast and Miracast... it’s a great app that just works!

You can also Chrome cast to it or another device.

You can use a Lightning (or usb-c depending which apple device you are using) to HDMI adapter and plug it directly in.

Finally you can login via the BT sport website and screen-share to your TV.

Kind Regards
Jacob

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

@be11aml We haven't blocked it, but we're aware of issues with Airplay 2 that we're trying to resolve. It works for some customers, but not others.
We have blocked it for some customers who only have a subscription to view video on their mobile, but it would show error VC550 if blocked for this reason.

@TheCableGuy96 if you have an Xbox, why not just install the BT Sport app directly onto it? You'll get the best possible experience this way.

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

@DarrenDev I wasn't aware there was an official all but I'll probably install it as an extra option.

For the record, I also get the error on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and the latest version of the iPad Pro. It's only when trying to cast live streams.

Cheers!

Kind Regards
Jacob

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

I’m having the same problem so I spoke to Bt and was disappointed with their response. Basically was told they don’t give technical support for casting issues so there’s nothing they can do. Everything else casts ok to the tv so it must be a Bt sport app issue surely.

Yes @Boodie71, we've acknowledged that it is a problem with the BT Sport app when trying to use Airplay 2 with some devices. We're doing out best to fix it, but don't have an answer just yet.

It’s only LG devices, I’ve cast it fine to every other device that I’ve tried

Re: Can’t cast BT Sport app to my LG tv anymore

"Cast" is unfortunately a confusing term @Big_Robbo. There's Chromecast, Airplay, Airplay 2, screen mirroring, and DIAL.

For LG, it's using Airplay 2 which we know fails with specific combinations of device and content. Other platforms don't have this issue - it's very specific to the way Airplay 2 communicates with our servers to retrieve the video. This also affects other manufacturers that have integrated Airplay 2.
