Can't connect to BTWi-Fi Fon

My husband has taken my notebook up to glasgow and has been unable to connect to BT Wi - Fi Fon at our flat up there. I set it up for him here at home and had no problems connecting to BT Fon  as opposed to our BT Infinity Home Hub.

He says that when he clicks on the connection icon in the notification area  both BTFOn and BT WiFi Fon have little yellow triangles with an exclamation mark. He said the error message he got was " Something to do with ports ".

He phoned me to tell me of the problem and I suggested that he try to get onto BT Desktop Help and go to connection problems.

Can someone please give us any other ideas please ?

Is it somebody elses hotspot rather than from your own Homehub. If it is it could be that the hotspot Homehub is needing to be reset.

I would not use BTDesktop Help. In my opinion it causes more problems than it ever solves.

Sorry for the delay in responding ; My husband came back from Glasgow and had been unable to connect to BT Wi-Fi Fon even though he had been following the right procedure (it worked fine when he came home and used our Home Hub .We learned subsequently , that our neighbour in Glasgow had died and presumably, their Home Hub was no longer in use. That was the only reason we could think of for  being unable to get a connection.
