Can't connect to my broadband due to slow connection speed

This is my first post on here so I hope I've put it in the right place.

I had a new phone line installed around a year ago and over the last couple of months, my broadband connection had repeatedly failed. It's now got to the point where my phone won't even connect to my home hub because it says that the connection is too slow. I should add that my laptop is ancient and is now so useless that I don't use it anymore so my internet use is now limited to a wireless connection on my Samsung Galaxy S4.

My router is a Home Hub 3.0.

Towards the back end of 2013, all speed tests I've done using the Ookla Speedtest app on my phone showed that my connection was anywhere between 10 and 15 Mbps. I am now unable to connect to my hub because my phone refuses to connect due to the poor speed of the connection.

I'm not very technically-minded but I can follow instructions, so if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful for any help you could give me.

I've looked at numerous similar threads on here, but I'm not sure what I can try myself in the absence of a device that I can connect via ethenet (as I said earlier, my connection is wireless via my phone). I should also add that my wife's phone (a different model) also struggles to connect and regularly reverts to a 3G mobile connection.

I'd be really grateful for any advice.

Re: Can't connect to my broadband due to slow connection speed

your phone should connect to your router regardless of the speed of your internet connection so is you problem that your wireless devices have problems conencting your your hub not that your internet connection is slow

if you use your laptop you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
