I've been through the process of creating a new disposable email address, of the form xxxx-yyyy@yahoo.co.uk, literally 100 times before. Now it no longer works, returning the message "Sorry, an unknown error has occurred. Please try again. If the issue persists, please contact customer care." It has been doing this for over a week now, so I think that counts as the issue persisting! And before you ask, I have not hit the 500 limit, it still says 359 of 500 used.
Any ideas what has gone wrong? Or indeed how to contact "customer care" by email? I'm hard of hearing so will not contact them by telephone.
Solved! Go to Solution.
That's a Yahoo! issue. You need their customer care. Try Contact Us or Email a Yahoo specialist .
Well it's BT with whom I have a contract. And when I try to contact Yahoo, I get nowhere. It's BT who are standing to lose my contract over this.
What do you have a contract for with BT? If it's for BB & home phone it covers BT's email addys but not any others.
BT email is provided by yahoo.
There are two BT email systems. One is BTYahoo which is provided by Yahoo and the other is BTMail which is not provided by Yahoo.
If you are on the BTMail system you can not set up disposable email addresses.

If you are on the BTYahoo email system you can set up disposable email addresses

If you are not sure which system you are on you need to log onto your email and if you see Yahoo any where you are on BTYahoo, if no sign of Yahoo you are on BTMail.
If you want to contact BT regarding your problem you can do it via
which will negate the need to use the phone.
Thanks, yes I am trying live chat now.
They are telling me that BT has withdrawn the facility to create (or delete) disposable addresses - although BT have neither notified their customers nor updated their website, so I am not convinced this is correct.
There was notification that it was being withdrawn from BTMail. You could continue to use your present disposable addresses but you were not able to create new ones. I do not recall if it also applied to BTYahoo but I see no reason why it wouldn't.
This more or less tallies with the information from BT live chat.
It's a shame that BT think they can increase the price and reduce the service at more or less the same time. Disposable addresses are one of the most useful ways of keeping spam under control. I shall have to consider switching broadband provider. 😞
