Can the bt speed test be trusted?

I'm currently downloading a file from the psn, It's by no means a massive file and should only take 30 mins/1 hour to complete.

I have 932 mins remaining after 30 minutes of downloading, I asked a friend who is with another fibre provider to download the same file and he is getting full speed and the file will take about 40 minutes to complete.

I used the wholesale speed test which shows I'm getting 20mbps DL and I've also tested on speedtest.net which says I'm getting 8mbps DL.

I stopped the download and turned the ps3 off before running the speed tests.

Whats going on bt?

Re: Can the bt speed test be trusted?

The BT Speedtester tests what it tests, and nothing more.  It checks the speed you get between BT Wholesale's servers and your home.  It doesn't test the speed you get on a connection to the wider internet.

Bear in mind that a traffic jam on the internet could be anywhere.  It may be on BT's own network, or at the other end.
