Can we pair a whole home disc with a 4G mini hub?

Due to issues with our connection we're currently accessing the internet via a 4G mini hub rather than our Home Hub until normal service resumes.

However, our Sky box only has a wired connection. It's been plugged into a black whole home disk and that's worked brilliantly, but there doesn't seem to be a way to connect the disk to the mini hub's wifi through the app.

As it's half term, being able to download films etc to the Sky box would be really useful! Does anyone know if there's a way we can connect the disk to the hub, please?

Hi @Majick I'm sorry the Mini Hub doesn't have all the range and features of your usual BT Hub, as it's just to tide you over until we get you back up and running so, unfortunately, it's not possible to connect the complete wifi disc.

Re: Can we pair a whole home disc with a 4G mini hub?

You would not be able to use the disk, but what you could try, would be a wifi access point like the TP Link TD-WA801ND, configured a  wireless client.

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/access-point/tl-wa801nd/

About £20

That would connect to the wifi from the 4G mini hub, and the Sky box would plug into the Ethernet port.

Depending on how long you expect to be without service, it may be worth considering.

You would have to configure it first by plugging a computer into the Ethernet port and selecting the wireless client mode, then scanning for the signal from the 4G hub, and entering the wireless password.

Alternately connect your 4G Mini Hub direct to your SkyQ box like I have done here.

Ask the SkyQ box to look for a WiFi client..... When it see's it type your BT Mini Hub password in and it works a treat.

@busterboy1

From the initial post it sounds like an older style sky box not skyq as it does not have wifi capabilities hence the problem so can't see how sky box will find a wifi client

Thanks all, not a big issue, we hopefully won't have the hub for long - just wanted to see if I was missing anything obvious.
