Can you request a disconnected landline number and have it redirected to a new number in new region?

I used to work at a shop that has now closed and the number has been disconnected. I now work in a similar industry in a different area. Is it possible to have the original number re-activated and have calls diverted to a new number in a different region.

Are you sure the number us still spare? What CP (BT/sky/post office etc etc) was the number associated/owned by?
It maybe possible but may get complicated in getting the old number back.

As it would appear to be for business use you would be better to post on the business forum where they may be able to offer advice.
