Cancel BT Broadband, Landline and Sport

Go to solution

Hi All

I have been with BT for 7-8 years now, but have finally had enough due to prices going up etc.. I have tried to get them to lower the prices but all I get is sorry no.

My contract is up on 22nd Feb and I want to cancel Broadband, landline and sport.. I am hoping to go to Plusnet as they have a good deal on...

Do I have to contact BT myself to cancel or can the new provider do this when I switch??.

Also if I have to contact them to cancel, do I have to phone or can I email them?.

Thanks for help..

@reddevil07

Your new provider does it all for you.

If you have a fibre connection, its wise to check first to see if the cabinet is not showing a waiting list, otherwise you would end up with a normal ADSL connection if you change provider.

Then you should be fine. Bear in mind that if fibre is available, then your new provider may not allow you to order standard broadband, as some providers are trying to de-commission the ADSL equipment in the exchanges.

You are aware that Plusnet are part of the same group so the price changes are done the same way right?

Yes I did know, but they are offering a 12 month contract which is cheaper.

In fact I am paying £72 a month now, where as with Plusnet it will be £29 a month plus £9.99 for BT Sport for 12 months, so will make a saving of £30 a month..

After 12 months will be looking at Sky Broadband, when my deal is up with them re tv...

I see, doesn't make sense though as I thought non fibre customers prices were capped @ 29.99 for bb & line rental so not sure why they couldn't reduce your cost as well but ah well

Are you sure you don't have VDSL ?
Just to make sure you are on the same page as the posters.

What is your internet speed at the moment

Just want to be sure as to some, fibre is VDSL/Fibre to the cabinet others its Fibre to the home. If its VDSL, ie >than ~10mbps then as posted, you might loose your place in the queue for reconnection.

I didn't know they were capped?

Broadband and Calls is £46

Unlimited minutes add on £10

BT Sport £20

Special offer discount -£4

Total £72 a month

Total rip off from BT, then prices will go up... No Thanks...
