Cancellation of my BT

Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me please,my bt contract ends on the 9th September I checked with BT who said I would need to give 30 days notice to cancel both my broadband and phone which is what I have done now but I have just had a email from them saying that I have to pay a £31 for stopping my bt services which I think is wrong as they didn't tell me about this charge, I thought I was doing the right thing, I didn't know how I changed my broadband service and still do not know but being a disabled person I need and rely on my broadband and phone, i just don't know what I have to do, if I am going to be charged this should I cancel my cancellation please could someone help me please

Re: Cancellation of my BT

if you want to change your provider you just contact your new provider and tell them you wish them to take over your BT services and then no cease fee is charged and you get no loss of service when the services change over there is no need to cancel with BT
