Cancelling Phone Line Installation

I ordered BT broadband and a new phone line installation on August 15th for a rented property I moved into on the 19th. Upon moving in I've discovered that the property does in fact have a phone line installed and will no longer need the engineer to install a new one.

So far I've been unable to find a way to cancel the engineer coming on September 1st, as I need a landline number to progress with changing/cancelling my order, which I don't currently have.

Is there a way to alter my order so that I am not charged the £30 installation fee and save the engineer coming out for nothing?

Re: Cancelling Phone Line Installation

There is an installation charge even if there is an existing line, as work need to be done by Openreach at the exchange and street cabinet.

If the line test shows the line as connected, then you woudl not normally get a vist anway.
