btinternet is show up as the only account set up.

and no when i receive messages they do not disapear

oh just found incoming settings are pop3.btinternet.com (pop3 server)

outgoing settings show smtp server

mail.btinternet.com

port 587

shows unticked option "require sign-in"

Right, that makes sense.

You need to make sure that you use SSL, as the mail server needs authentication.

SMTP server

mail.btinternet.com

Port 465

SSL

Requires you to sign in

If that makes sense, as I cannot see the menu on your phone from here Smiley Wink

If you want to be able to read mail on both your PC and your phone, without them being deleted from your PC, then IMAP is a better option.

hi changed port number and to ssl

ignored requires sign in and got message cannot safely connect to server(certificate hostname not useable for server:mail.btinternet.com)

so i assume need to sign in

then asking for username and password- is this to be the same as my bt yahoo settings in my home pc?

ps thanks very much for your time

Yes it is, its part of the authentication process, the settings should be stored.

the setting was showing port 587 and security type "none" when i looked (i.e. when i left the shop and earlier this evening)

when i changed to port 465 i have two ssl security types- ssl or ssl (accept all certificates)
