“Cannot verify server identity”

Go to solution

I keep getting a popup tile with the above message, quoting mail.btinternet.com. It happens frequently on my iPhone but never on my laptop.

Must admit that I have no idea what the incoming and outgoing mail server settings should be so that may be the problem.  Hope you can help please.

It’s good to know that I’ve been promoted to Beginner but I’m disappointed that I’ve had zero replies to my first and only question. I had high hopes that my issue would be child’s play for the expert members of the Forum.

Can you help me please?

This is a BT residential customer to customer forum.  The users of this forum give their time for free and post as and when they can to assist as and when they feel they can.

See link about the BT server settings

and this link about what you need to do if you are using the Yahoo settings which should not be used but often are when users allow their Apple device to automatically set up their email app.

Thanks for the link to the correct Settings.  I found that my Outgoing Mail Server Port was different from that specified so I’ve changed it to 465. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Unfortunately still getting the “Cannot Verify Server Identity” popup message.

Does anyone know what causes this and how to solve the problem?
