I have Cat6 cable throughout my house, a Cat6 patch panel and a Cat6 switch.
If I were to use Cat5 or Cat5e wall modules with the Cat6 cable would I still get gigabit speed? Would it still be a true Cat6 network?
I was told that Cat6 modules were deeper and too hard to fit into the backboxes in the walls so they would use the Cat5 or Cat5e modules instead.
If you are paying to have a Cat 6 network installed that is what I would expect to be installed, not a botch between Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6.
It may be the case that it is easier to fit Cat 5 modules because of the thicker insulation/spline etc of the Cat 6 cable but it is in my opinion lowering the standard of the network to that of Cat 5.
There is a thread about it here, which while not definitive may help you make up your mind.
